I'm new to this blogging thing. Hopefully, it won't be too time-consuming. If it is, it's not the blog's fault. I take full responsibility. Well, me and my addictive personality that is.
I'm in week three now. I didn't have too many responsibilities the first two weeks which was nice. It gave me time to acclimate to the new surroundings. I went exploring a lot which was amazing. Oxford is the most beautiful city I've ever been in. I can't believe that I live here! The entire city is filled with history. Just on my way to Regent's, I pass several medieval stylized, Gothic buildings, a botanic garden, and the pub that C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein frequented! I'm completely overwhelmed by the possibilities of experience!
The five of us Georgetowners are living in a house on Stanley Road about two miles from Regent's. It's quite a hike there and back. Since Regent's feeds us every week day, it's really not an option to stay at our new home. The first week we were all so sore, and I think that a bike would be a wise investment. It's a cycling culture here. The slight incline on the way to Regent's does somewhat trouble me though...
Now, coming into the third week, I'm need to buckle down. I have my first essay due this Friday. Not doing work has made me forget how much pressure writing a quality paper feels like. Whereas at Georgetown, it would be easy to slack off and still manage grades, the one-on-one tutorials make it impossible here. My tutor, Claire, is really great though. She's so British and says really polite things like "Oh, that'd be grand." It's quite entertaining, but people don't always like when you laugh at them everytime they finish a sentence, so I've had to contain myself.
I'm sure I'll post later this week considering it'll keep me from doing necessary work ;)
Pictures to come later once I figure out this downloading thingy...

**This picture is the quad at Regent's Park.
**The image at the top is the dining hall at Regent's. Looks a lot like the dining hall in Harry Potter right? Well, a more ghetto version, but I like to use my imagination :D

The pictures are great. Take care and have a wonderful time. By the way, Blogging presents quite a vast community: A Global community.
Congratulations on being selected to represent Georgetown College in Oxford! I wanted to introduce myself to you! I was one of Georgetown's first three students to go to Oxford in the fall of 2000. I, like you, studied art history! Jim McCormick set me up with a drawing class at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art and art history with the late Ilaria Bignamini from the graduate school of art history.
I know you are very involved on campus and that you are having one of the highlights of your life right now, but if you have time to e-mail, I'd love to chat! Say Hi to Larry Kreitzer for me! If you see Mrs. Batts, please tell her "Hi" for me too! I think of her often.
Lindsey now married....
